how does the process work?
Foil Stamping
Foil stamping is an off-line process using metal dies, heat and pressure to transfer a thin layer of foil onto the paper. Metallic, pigment, pearl or holographic foil is available in a range of color options. To learn more about foil stamping, download our Foil Stamping Information Sheet (PDF).
Embossing
Embossing creates a three dimensional image above the paper surface. Using metal dies, heat and pressure, the paper is molded to the desired shape. It can be done on printed images or in combination with the other processes DE Baugh offers. The opposite of embossing, debossing pushes the image below paper level, giving your product a carved, chiseled appearance. To learn more about embossing, download our Embossing Information Sheet (PDF).
Foil and Embossing
Combining foil stamping and debossing creates a more dramatic effect. In some circumstances, special tooling allows for completing both processes in one press pass. Careful consideration must be taken when choosing paper colors, textures, weights, and inks. To learn more about foil stamping and embossing, download our Foil Stamping & Embossing Information Sheet (PDF).
Diecutting
Diecutting is the process of uniquely cutting a sheet into a desired shape or creating a window that enables you to see inside the packaging. To learn more about diecutting, download our Diecutting Information Sheet (PDF).
Film Lamination
Film lamination adheres a thin plastic sheet to the printed stock, enhancing the packaging while giving maximum protection. Films come in both gloss and matte finishes. To learn more about film lamination, download our Film Lamination Information Sheet (PDF).
UV Coating
UV coating is a liquid applied over ink on paper or plastic. The finish can be glossy or matte. To learn more about UV coating, download our UV Coating Information Sheet (PDF).
